I consider myself to be an average developer (often less especially after I’ve done something particularly careless), but the people at work call me Mr. Wizard! Why?

I thought for awhile that it was because I was so skilled, then I thought it was because they were so unskilled, and now I think that it may be neither. I think it may be a simple case where

I have been and am now their problem solver. Many people solve problems and many people like to be “problem solvers,” but it’s not really an easy or simple title. So many people will rush in to give suggestions from their perceived understanding of the other people’s issues.

People like people who when asked are quick to help but most importantly listen.

I know it sounds arrogant, but I never asked for the nickname. I’ve given the nickname some thought and yet still don’t have a good answer.

At the end of the day, I guess I also like the title… kind of messed up isn’t it?
